Run Forest Run - Stanmer Park, 23rd October 2016
It was a bright and fresh October morning, and a really good turn out - three times more than last year! So thanks to all you woodland creatures and runners.
The fastest time for the 10k was 39:45 by Lewis Isaacs - a mere 4 seconds off the best time for the course, which was set last year by Andy Clarke. Melanie Brooks was the fastest woman at 44:17. Special mention goes to Peter Chittenden, aged 78, who completed the course with a beaming smile.
For the 5k, a new record of 21:29 was set by Peter Connolly, and the women's was won by Phoebe Connolly... which make the Connolly's the fastest family in the park that day.
You can view the 5k times here, and the 10k times here. There may be some omissions, as our timing system couldn't quite handle the load, so please let us know if there are any changes or additions.
Thanks to the 6 fundraisers who took part, the event raised a total of £2,317 for charity (including gift aid), the majority of which went to Moulsecoomb Forest Garden, a small local outdoor educational group who are very appreciative. You can still support the charity by going to the fundraising team page.
Thanks to the local Women's Institute for the tea and critter-themed cakes, delicious seasonal food from the Old Treehouse Cafe, facepainting from Orange Purple, Francine for the warm-ups, TIffany for the photos, Jason for the mark-out and to all of the volunteers and helpers.
We hope to see you again next year - but in the meantime, you should keep up the practice at Bevendean Parkrun, which is organised by the Ladybird and Giraffe who were on the 10k water point. If you want to come next year, and are not already on the email list, please enter your details below. Thanks!
